eljhz skie's.....: birthday getaway....
My husband is literally a workaholic and a homebody so it's really hard to schedule a getaway with him. With our four years together,we seldom went out of town or does similar activities.During days off from work,he would rather just stay at home with me and we'll watch his newly bought DVD tape, sleep almost the whole day following the first day off,eat out at night or at times watch big-screen movies and that's all about it.I can't even remember the last time he filed for a vacation leave,or if he ever does that the whole time we're together as couple.
But February of this year was a completely different story. We we're having dinner at that time, two weeks before my natal day, when he suddenly asked me if i can request for a week long vacation leave from work so to celebrate my birthday out of town, away from all the city noise, pollution and all that. It made me really happy so everything was set.
We originally planned of going to ZOObic safari, however, night before we leave,my husband got a call from a friend who's already based overseas and just came home for vacation. We then decided to visit his hometown, that way we can stay the whole week without paying for accommodation and stuff. There are a number of attractions in his locality that we can visit anyhow.
We left manila early morning of my birthday via ES transport bound to Cabanatuan and dropped off at Cambio in San Miguel, Bulacan. From Cambio,Jason's house is still approximately 7-10minutes tricycle -ride away. The travel time and food preparation for his clan and some guests made it such a long day!
The morning after,we went to visit Biak-na-Bato National park, situated in Brgy. Biak-na-Bato, which happens to be a 30 minute straight drive from Cambio via a private vehicle.
Parking slots are available for P20.00,and that's park-at-your own risk kind of thing. They also charges P30.00 for adults entrance fee and P20.00 for students. First time visitors are advised to hire tourist guides to explore the caves at P150.00 too, otherwise, you won't be able to enter any of the caves.
Souvenir items are available at stalls located just few steps before the entrance too. We bought a number of those items to give out to friends, and as well as shirts for remembrance.
The park is about 2000 hectares long and wide, connected by hanging bridges and concrete trails that goes up and down hill leading to different attractions such as ancient trees, caves, falls, giant rocks and greenery. Some of the park's significant sites includes the Emilio Aguinaldo mural, the bahay paniki cave, Cuarto cuarto cave and the Emilio Aguinaldo cave to where Emilio reportedly hid during the spanish regime.
A visit to Biak- na -Bato was indeed an outstanding and informative outdoor experience. Not only will you enjoy all the sites, but more so,you'll better understand the history of our country.
Biak -na -Bato National park is a great forest but as a day has it's night, this park also has it's downside. And one of which i noticed is its comfort room. It has a stinky smell and as i see it, no one seems to be maintaining the comfort room anymore. Hopefully, the people in charge of the property's facilities would do something about it.
In totality,we had a really great time at the park and given another chance,we would always love to come back.....
